Have you ever worked on something for months?

A number of years ago my family and I made a plan to go to Disneyworld.  Six months before we left we made a plan. We figured out what it would cost and what we needed to do to get ready.  Then we set about getting ready.  Liam rode his bike around the neighbourhood collecting bottles to turn in for money for the trip.  Emma created t-shirts for the family to wear.  Alix researched the best rides to go on and created a plan of attack to maximize fun and minimize wait times. Britton and I worked hard to earn and save in order to pay for it all. Finally, after months of dreaming, planning and saving, it was time.  The night before we caught the plane to Orlando I could barely sleep.  I was so excited!

I feel a lot like that today.  Since August I’ve been part of a team working behind the scenes getting ready to launch a new initiative called Going Beyond.  Going Beyond is a campaign that will shape the future of our church for years to come, and it starts this weekend! I’m so excited that I’m having trouble sleeping.

Over the next five weeks we’ll be learning about the first church as described in the book of Acts.  From their experiences we’ll discover what Jesus envisions for us today.  Each Sunday we’ll look at specific pieces of scripture, then during the week there will be opportunities to meet in small groups to go deeper and discuss how it applies personally.  Each day, between February 26 and March 25, we’ll also be releasing a daily video devotional focusing on a chapter from the book of Acts.   Along the way there will also be some great events that will explain the complete vision of the Going Beyond Campaign, the four goals of the campaign, and how you can be involved.  I’m more excited about what God has in store for us than I was about Disneyworld.

Going Beyond begins this Sunday as we look at Acts 1:6-11 and discover what Jesus envisions for us, both as a church family and as individuals.  I hope you’ll be a part of this spiritual journey.

Going Beyond Prayer Summit
Join us as we begin our Going Beyond campaign with a prayer summit.  We’ll spend some time learning about prayer,  practicing what we’ve learned, and then praying for each other.  The Prayer Summit begins at 7 pm in the lounge.

Living Hope is turning 90 and we want to celebrate!  Join us Saturday March 24th for our Beyond 90 banquet to celebrate where we have been and where God is leading us.  Tickets will be available, starting this Sunday, in the lobby.  There is no cost, but you must register as space is limited.
