Discuss

  1. What part of the spiritual need (global or local) mentioned in the sermon stirred something in you emotionally? Why do you think that stood out?
  2. Do you ever struggle to believe that God cares deeply about people who seem far from Him or opposed to Him? What shapes that struggle?
  3. When you hear the word calling, what images or expectations come to mind? How do those expectations help or hinder you? How does Western individualism shape the way we think about calling and mission?
  4. Where has God already placed you that might actually be your place of calling right now? What fears or hesitations tend to hold you back from seeing yourself as someone God could use?
  5. In what ways can comfort or success dull our sensitivity to God’s voice? What comforts or privileges in your personal life might quietly compete with wholehearted obedience to Jesus and the mission He has for you?
  6. Who in your daily life might be showing subtle signs of searching for meaning, hope, or truth? What might you do to encourage them to seek Jesus?
  7. Where do you sense your heart burning with compassion, concern, or curiosity for others? What is one small, practical step of obedience you could take this week to respond to God’s vocatio (invitation or calling)?

Pray

Pray together asking God to help everyone recognize spiritual hunger in different environments. Ask God to show your group how you can collectively serve or bless others in your community.
