- Share a highlight from your summer and something you are looking forward to this fall.
- What makes you want to be a part of a small group?
- Share a time when someone made you feel welcome. What was it that they did or said that contributed to this?
Discuss:
- Read John 8:2-11. Who are the main characters in the story? Don’t forget to include God in your list. How are they portrayed? If you had to put this story into a one-sentence summary, what would it be?
- What does this story say to the nature and character of God? Of humans?
- What is this story saying about judgment and mercy?
- What does this story tell us about how we come to church?
- Take a moment and ask Holy Spirit how this story might apply to your life. After enough time has passed, break up into groups of 2-4 so each person can share what Holy Spirit said.

- As the leader, pray for the group and for God to form and shape all of you, to draw you together in Him.
