Board of Elders Report – February 2018

Have you ever wondered how a board meeting begins?   Well, the meeting actually starts before the meeting. Several committees met to prepare their reports.  An agenda was sent to the board members. Before our last meeting, we had a meal together to thank 3 members who have served faithfully these past 2 or 4 years.

That being said, it is VERY IMPORTANT to attend the AGM (Annual General Meeting) next Sunday, March 11.  If you have questions about the finances, come early at 9:30am when that report is given and questions are answered.  Coffee is available just in case someone needs that perk at that hour.  After the morning service, we begin the 90th year celebration of the church.   It will be followed by lunch (at no cost) and then the rest of the reports will be given.  New Board members will also be elected.

A report from the finance committee showed that we ended the year with a surplus in our giving.  We were informed from our national office of a shortfall in the Global Advance Fund as well as the District Ministry fund.  A decision was made to give extra to these important needs of our “family of churches”.  We also made the decision to improve the sound equipment in the auditorium.   Thank you for your faithfulness in giving.  Together we rejoice and are blessed for it.

We spent time in prayer (talking with God and listening to Him), seeking Him concerning the teaching/preaching agenda for the next year.  It is the desire of your leaders to continue to “feed my sheep” as He has commanded us to do.  Great series are ahead.

Excitement was the spirit of the meeting when we talked about the present series GOING BEYOND – reclaiming the Acts 1:8 vision in OUR generation.  Here are some important dates to mark in your agenda:

FRIDAY, MARCH 9 – 7pm CHOCOLATE NIGHT FOR COUPLES (child care is provided)

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14 – 12noon – SOUP FOR THE SOUL for people 50+

SATURDAY – MARCH 24 – 6pm – BEYOND 90 BANQUET – celebrating 90 years as a church.  (child care is provided)

It is VERY IMPORTANT to register (RSVP) for the chocolate night as well as the banquet as space is limited.  You can call the church (306-352-HOPE), send a message on “contact us” on www.mylivinghope.ca  or send an email directly to rsvp@mylivinghope.ca  informing us of your presence as well as how many children will also be coming.

As we said earlier – “Great days and years are ahead as we serve together.”
