The Board of Elders met on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. We began with a time of teaching from Pastor Kirk; he reviewed Jesus’ Way of Discipling as described in Luke 6, 9 and Matthew 12, 18. We reviewed the concepts of Up, In, and Out along with the BLESS Practice teachings. We learned a new acronym, FRANC, to identify who we might disciple. FRANC stands for: F – Friends, R – Relations, A – Acquaintances, N – Neighbors, C – Colleagues. As we considered these teachings, we were challenged: “How are you modelling discipleship to our church family?” Factors that affect our discipleship include: lives that display a modelling behaviour, our influence with others, and accountability to those we are seeking to reach. A time of prayer for our church followed.
Lola Sotomi has been appointed to the Board of Elders to serve the remainder of the term which was vacated by Ken Thiessen. We are continuing to review policies and update them as needed. We reviewed a document which outlined ‘Guidelines for the 2022-23 Budget’.
The Spring melt has presented problems on the South Wing of our building. We will be addressing roof, grading and water issues. The necessary repairs will be paid from the Building Fund. If you wish to donate funds to this project, please designate to the Building Fund.
Pastor Eric and Danielle Miller will complete their service at Living Hope on April 17. Eric has faithfully served as Worship Arts Pastor for 7 years. We will have a farewell reception for them after the Easter Sunday service.
We are still pursuing applications for the Children & Family Pastor position.
The Shepherding Team is transitioning to a new name – Core Ministry Team. The CMT will assist in determining strategic goals, coordinating strategic initiatives, and measuring outcomes to ensure that our church is moving towards the fulfillment of our mission and vision.
The Board of Elders and the Core Ministry Team finished the last segment of the “Intercultural Development” course from the Jaffray Centre on March 26.
Our next Board of Elders meeting is scheduled for April 26.
