Do you have any doubts?

Have you ever doubted someone or something? Have you ever doubted God?

In all my years and in churches I’ve been a part of, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say, “I have doubts about God,” at least not publicly.  Still, I know people have doubts. I know that people in our church have doubts about God because, sometimes, I have doubts about God.  (Did I just shock you by saying that? Sorry, but it’s true.)

Do you have any doubts about God?  If you do, then guess what, you are human. Doubt is normal. Doubt isn’t something to fear or hide; it is something to bring out into the open and embrace because it’s an opportunity for something greater.

This weekend we are looking at the story of an insider, someone close to Jesus, someone in his own family, who had doubts about who Jesus is. In fact, because this relative of Jesus had doubts, I know that it’s okay for me to have doubts. I hope you’ll join us this weekend as we explore John 7:18-35 and discover that doubt doesn’t make you an outsider; it’s an opportunity for an insider to embrace.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Kirk
