  1. Read Ephesians 4:17-24. What stands out to you in this text?
  2. Paul gives a number of descriptive words unpacking what the ‘old self’ looks like. Which one resonates with your ‘old self’ the most and why? Futility of thinking, darkened understanding, separate from God, ignorance, hardening of heart, no sensitivity, gives into sensuality, impurity, greed, deceitful desires
  3. Pastor Tim talked about how we often overlook the impact of the ‘hardening of the heart’ and ‘deceitful desires’ and their impact on our lives. We are quick to oversimplify the matter to just thinking, but it is also about our desire, our longings. Where in the past has your desire or longing got you into trouble or lead you down the wrong path? The first part of this verse talks about the ‘futility of their thinking’. Where have you seen your thoughts negatively affect your life?
  4. Often, we think of putting on the ‘new self’ as an act of salvation, rather than an ongoing day by day thing. However, Paul is talking to Christians in this letter, people who already know and understand the work of Jesus. How have you experienced God’s ongoing work in your life? Where is He at work right now?

Pray:
