- If you could have a double portion of anything in your life right now (skills, energy, patience, health, etc.), what would that be and why?
Discuss:
- Read 2 Kings 2:9-15. How is Elisha’s request different from asking for power, success, or recognition? If you were to boldly ask God for more of His Spirit like Elisha did, what might that look like in your life?
- Why is it often easier to jump into activity for God rather than cultivate deep desire for Him? What are some subtle ways we can “do ministry” without genuine intimacy with God? How can you tell when your service is flowing out of love for God versus obligation or pressure?
- What tends to dull or distract your desire for God? What might need to change in your schedule, habits, or mindset to cultivate deeper dependence on God? How can we encourage one another to pursue God’s presence, not just productivity?
- What excites you about the partnership with the work in Africa? What questions do you have? What part can you play with the skills and passions God has given you?
Pray:
- Spend time quietly asking God to increase your desire for Him.
- Then pray as a group for a fresh filling of His Spirit for each person, not for personal gain but for faithful witness and service for the building of God’s Kingdom for the sake of others.
