Group Discussion – April 20, 2025

Connect:

  1. Have you ever looked for something and when you found it, you realized it is not in its right place? (ie. Pastor Tim mentioned car keys in the sock drawer or the remote in the bathroom).

Discuss:

  1. Read Luke 24:1-12.
  2. Contrast the women and the disciples’ response to the resurrection news. How were their initial responses to Jesus’ death similar? How were their response to the resurrection news different? What reaction might you have had if you were present that day?
  3. Have you ever wondered “Does it really matter if Jesus rose from the dead?” Read 1 Cor 15:1-8. Why is the resurrection such a big deal to our faith?
  4. What does the resurrection reveal about Who Jesus is? (ie. His nature, His character, His heart towards us, His word, etc.)
  5. Consider any anxiety, fear, suffering, or unfulfilled desire that you might be wrestling with. How does Jesus’ resurrection ultimately address whatever issue you are presently facing?
  6. Consider any ways you may be looking for life outside of Jesus. How does Jesus’ resurrection realign your heart to Him and remind you to look for all you need from Him?
  7. The gospel message is that we as humans are insufficient to produce life from death but Jesus is sufficient. In every way. For all time. What words come to mind or what emotions come to heart when you consider that Jesus has overcome death to offer you life?

Pray:

  1. Say “He is not here” and have your group respond “He is risen!”.
  2. Pray short, sentence prayers thanking Jesus for His death and resurrection that given you new life (2 Cor 5:17, 1 Peter 1:3).
