Group Discussion – Mar 24, 2024

Connect:

  1. Open in prayer
  2. Share a time when you experienced a moment of glory.
  3. Share a time that you did something hard that you did not want to do. What was it? Why did you do it?

Discussion:

  1. Re-read Mark 9:2-13. What was important about the transfiguration of Jesus? What did it say about his identity?
  2. Why was the transfiguration important for the disciples? (hint: they were struggling with how Jesus was portraying himself as the Messiah)
  3. God directs the disciples to listen to Jesus. In other words, to obey him. This is challenging because the disciples still don’t understand what Jesus is doing. In what ways do you sometimes struggle to understand what God is doing?
  4. What makes obedience hard? Do you struggle to obey God? Why or why not?
  5. Is there something God is stirring in your heart that you are not sure whether it is of him or not? If you are willing, share it with the group. Allow the group to do some listening prayer and discernment and share what they hear. Write down what they say and in your own prayer time, discern what is of God and what is not.
  6. In this story, God is also meeting the disciples where they are at to encourage them. Take some time to encourage the person on the left of you.

Prayer

  1. Share any prayer requests that have come out of the discussion and others that have not.
  2. Pray for these requests.

Global Request – The Uyghur People (wee-ger)

The majority of the 12,000,000 Uyghurs live in northwest China. Of this population only 0.01% are Christians, as the majority follow some form of Islam. These people have been subject to great persecution and hardship in China. Pray that Jesus would reveal Himself powerfully to many Uyghur people in the midst of their suffering. It is estimated that approximately 3000 live in Canada so pray that these people will have opportunity to live or work alongside a believer who can share the truth of the gospel with them.
