- Are you an early riser or do you prefer to sleep in? Is waking up easy for you or hard? How do you get up in the morning (alarm, naturally, by the light, other?)
Discuss (break up into small groups, just guys and just girls if possible):
- Paul talks about hard things in this text but gives an antidote of thanksgiving. Why would thanksgiving work this way? What do you think about this quote: “Thanksgiving is a virtual synonym with the Christian life.” Share two things you are thankful for from your week.
- What makes it hard to confess sin?
- Have you ever kept a secret sin? If you are comfortable, share with the group what happened when you confessed.
- Of the sins listed, which one are you struggling with the most and how – sexual immorality, impurity, greed, obscenity, foolish talk, and coarse joking? If you are willing, share when and how this happens.
Pray (in small groups):
- Taking turns, invite the group to listen to Holy Spirit for each person. If someone receives something, have them share what Holy Spirit has given them for the benefit of the other individual. Then invite 1-2 others to pray for this person to live in the light of Christ, to resolve to live with no secrets, and to have a thankful heart, the antidote to sin.
