- What is the best view you have ever seen?
Discuss:
- Read Romans 12:1-2. If you had to whittle these verses down to a brief, one-sentence summary, what would it be? What does this passage say about the nature and character of God? Of humans?
- Pastor Tim talked about the life of a believer being lived ‘in view of God’s mercy.’ How is this connected with the idea of ‘encounter’?
- Share about a time when you personally encountered Jesus.
- Why would seeking encounter with Jesus today be important? Pastor Tim talked about how some prefer doctrine over experience while for others, it is experience over doctrine. Which do you typically lean on more? What challenges do you face in seeing the importance of the other side? What step might you take this week to overcoming that challenge?
- To encourage the importance of an experience, consider leading a new small group for the upcoming message series called, “Skeptics Welcome”. If anyone is interested, email Pastor Shauna at shauna@mylivinghope.ca
Pray:
- Ask your group if anyone would like a fresh encounter with Holy Spirit. Tell them to share a sentence or two as to why then have them sit in the middle of your group while everyone lay hands on them. Pray “come Holy Spirit” and take a moment to listen for a word, Scripture, picture, or encouragement. After a minute, ask those who are laying on hands to share what they heard. Have someone write down what was shared.
