Have you ever moved at Christmas?

Have you ever moved at Christmas? When our family moved back to Regina a decade ago we sold our house 10 days before Christmas and moved out of it 15 days afterwards. What that meant is that our life was in chaos over Christmas. You really have to be motivated to move at Christmas. There must be a good reason to move at Christmas, and there was, we wanted to be a part of Living Hope—the last decade has proven that it was well worth the uncertainty and chaos.

Did you know that Christmas is the celebration of a move? In the Gospel of John the author writes:

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” John 1:14 (The Message)

Christmas is the annual reminder that Jesus moved into the neighbourhood. Jesus entered into the chaos and uncertainty of life so that you could know God and he could help you navigate life.

This Friday we will be celebrating Jesus’ move with our annual Christmas Eve worship gatherings at 4:00 and 6:00 pm. You can join us in person at the church or online at live.mylivinghope.ca. Together we are going to explore what it means to have Jesus as our neighbour and the hope that brings for us today. Then on Sunday (Boxing Day) we are going to worship together and look at the future that Jesus’ move means for you and me.

I hope you’ll join us on Friday and on Sunday.

See you soon,

Pastor Kirk
