Have you noticed?

Have you noticed the words above the main doors as you exit our church?  As you exit the church, you walk underneath the words from Acts 1:8:

“…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

We put this verse above the door a few years ago. Have you ever wondered why? Why do you think those words are there?

That verse is there to remind us of the mission into which Jesus has invited us. Living Hope is not just a place where we go once or twice a week to grow deeper in relationship with Jesus and our friends. Living Hope’s vision is that we would be a movement of people responding to the invitation of Jesus to be His disciples and witnesses.  Jesus’ vision for His church is for us to make an impact with His gospel both locally (Jerusalem and Samaria) and globally (to the ends of the earth).  When I see those words, it reminds me of the mission and movement that I am invited to be part of. Do you think of that, too?

This weekend is our Global Impact Weekend. Our Global Impact Weekends are opportunities for us to look beyond our locale and see what God is doing around the world.  This weekend we will hear from Rhonda, an international worker who is helping people encounter Jesus. We will also hear about a digital mentoring strategy that you can be part of, so that you can be Jesus’ witness globally without leaving home. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we discover how to embrace Jesus’ Acts 1:8 vision and mission.

See you soon,

Pastor Kirk
