How would you define the Gospel?

If someone asked you to define the Gospel, what would you say? Maybe you’d describe the Gospel as the good news about Jesus Christ, but what is the good news? What is the essence, the core, the heart of the Gospel? Maybe you aren’t sure.

Years ago, I worked with a pair of brothers who peppered me with questions about my faith. They had learned that I had just graduated from Bible College; as a self-professed atheist and agnostic, they wanted to know what and why I believed. If I’m honest, I stumbled and stalled in answering their questions because I wasn’t confident in describing the Gospel–even with a shiny new diploma hanging on my wall at home, I had trouble explaining the Gospel. I explained the Gospel as many different things; in hindsight, I realized that I had not focused on the one thing that the Gospel and our faith are founded upon.

This Sunday, as we continue our Creed series, we will look at the one thing that defines our faith. Out of all the beliefs we have talked about over the past seven weeks, if we don’t believe in this one thing, then everything else doesn’t matter. I hope you’ll join us this weekend as we look at 1 Corinthians 15:1-28, the one thing that our faith is founded upon.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Kirk

PS…Do you have questions about some of the beliefs we’ve talked about in the Creed series? Join us on March 6th for a Q&A time during the service. While you’ll be able to watch the Q&A online, you’ll need to be with us in person on March 6 to participate and submit questions.
