Board of Elders Report – August 2017

Many people have heard this verse, “And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”   Living Hope Alliance Church has had deep roots in living out that verse through many years.  But it is time to reclaim the vision for our generation today.

  • Jerusalem – Let’s create an attractive and welcoming campus that south-east Regina (our neighbourhood) could enjoy and be drawn to Jesus.
  • Samaria – Let’s reach people in the Greater Regina area where no one else is and establish an extension of Living Hope.
  • Ends of the Earth – Let’s support our global outreach and go beyond the boundaries of our country.

To do all that, it will take vision, but also faith and sacrifice.   Pastor Kirk and Kevin Gatschene recently took a seminar about how we can do that together.   Leadership teams, special events, and communication/media are being formed so that dreams will become reality.  It is interesting that the first part of Acts 1:8 starts with these words, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.  Exciting Spirit-filled days are just around the corner as we take the next steps together in building His kingdom.

Even though January seems to be a natural time to “get started” with new things, September is a great time to look ahead.  Here are some dates and events you will definitely want to attend:

  • September – November – Listen each week to the “Becoming” Sunday sermon series AND attend a small discussion group during the week.
  • Sept. 29-30 –  Holy Spirit Encounter weekend
  • Oct. 19-20 –  Global Leadership Summit

You will become stronger in your faith by attending these activities.

As leaders it is very important to continue to grow.  The book that we are reading now is called “Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus” by Nabeel Quereshi.  It is the story of a devout Muslim and his encounter with Jesus.  As we come in contact with the Islamic faith more and more on a daily basis, this book is thought-provoking and helps us to understand how we can offer true peace which is found only in Jesus.  If you are interested in reading this book, ask a board member to loan you the book, and you too can continue to grow in your walk with Jesus.

Do not hesitate to talk with any board member or pastor about your spiritual walk.  It is our desire that together we will be a strong church reaching Up, In, and Out.
