Group Discussion – April 14, 2024

Connect:

  1. Open in prayer
  2. Share a story of a desire you had that was fulfilled and of a desire you had that was not fulfilled.

Discussion:

  1. Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem was a big statement about who Jesus was – the King coming to rescue his people. The Jewish people had a particular idea of what Jesus was supposed to do to liberate them. What was that idea? What did Jesus come to do that was different?
  2. Jesus refers to himself as ‘Lord’. What does this title mean? How is it different than Savior?
  3. Pastor Tim talked about the crowd wanting Jesus to follow their own desires but suggested that a significant part of the journey of following Jesus is not simply obeying Jesus with our actions but submitting our hearts to him. Why would someone want to submit their heart to Jesus? (Try not to use bible language in your answer – this will be hard but helpful.)
  4. What areas of your heart (longing, desires) do you find it easy to submit to God?
  5. What areas of your heart (longings, desires) do you find it challenging to submit to God?
  6. What would it look like for Jesus to be the greatest desire of your heart?

Prayer:

  1. What desires do you want to bring to God for prayer? Share prayer requests and then take a moment to do some listening prayer for each person who shares. If God gave others in the group anything for that person, share and pray over that individual. Have someone write down what the group hears for the person so the person can take the paper home to pray over and test what parts of it they need to receive.

Community Involvement

Global Request
Continue to pray for believers in Israel and the Middle East. Pray peace and protection for the church especially in areas where the conflict is increasing. Ask Jesus to give the church a bold witness to proclaim that true peace is only found in Jesus.
