Know God

We’re excited that you’re ready to begin a relationship with God!  These steps are a great starting place.  If you would like someone to help you get started, just let us know!

1

Acknowledge that you have sinned against God and tell him you are sorry and wish to turn from all that is wrong. Here’s what the Bible says about this:

“For God so loved the world (mankind) that He gave his only son that whoever would believe (believe that he died for them) would not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16

“If we confess our sin he (God) is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9

2

Believe that Jesus died on the cross for you personally.  Thank Him for dying for you.

3

Ask him to come into you life and to live there. The Bible says that Jesus is waiting to have relationship with you:

“Behold I stand at the door of your heart and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in be with them”. Paraphrase of Revelation 3:20.

4

Ask Jesus to give you direction in your life. This means that from now on you desire God to make his will for you known to you and you give up your right to control all the things in your life. This is a process of daily inviting God to lead and direct you.

If you have asked God do these things for you today, call a friend whom you know would be happy to know about the decision you have made. We would also like to celebrate this incredible new life that you just have started. We would like to give you some great books that will help you enjoy and get started in this new life – please fill out the contact form below.

If you aren’t quite ready to make the decision to start a relationship with God, but would like to learn more, we have a couple of suggestions to explore further who God is:

We’ve created a First Steps Reading Plan that takes you through key chapters of Bible that will help you discover more about God. If you do not have an easy to read translation of the Bible we would like to give you one, simply indicate that you would like one in the contact form below.  It is a good idea to have a journal with you as you read through the Bible so you can write down your thoughts or questions as you read. Someday you may want to sit down with someone to talk about what you have read and we would love to help you in this way.

To supplement your Bible reading, we would like to give you a book called “The Purpose Driven Life”. This book has been a great help to many people and we trust it will help you. To get the book, indicate your interest in the contact form below and pastor Kirk will arrange to get one for you.

Whatever you choose, our prayer for you is that you will find what you are searching for.  We know that Jesus Christ is the way to God and the one who fulfills the deepest longings for significance that each of us have.  May you find Him.
