Are you walking in the way?

In Isaiah 30, the prophet writes:

”Your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, “This is the Way, walk in it,”

Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, Isaiah heard God promise that he would provide a teacher who would show us how to live as God envisions. The Teacher the prophet is talking about is Jesus. In the Gospels we see Jesus teaching and modeling a way of life that he expected his followers to embrace. In Acts, Jesus’ followers are so committed to Jesus’ way of living that their movement becomes known as “The Way” (Acts 9:2).  As followers of Jesus our first priority and greatest responsibility is to walk in The Way of Jesus, or to use the term we introduced last Sunday, to apprentice in the Way of Jesus. How are you doing at walking or apprenticing in the Way?

This weekend we are starting a new series that is all about the Jesus Way of living. For the next three week’s we’ll be looking at three characteristics that define the life that Jesus models for us. I hope you’ll join us this weekend as we start our 3D Living series and look at the first steps in apprenticing in the Way of Jesus.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Kirk
