1. What is a favorite Christmas tradition of yours?

Discussion:

1. Re-read Matt 1:18-25, why was this such a significant experience of betrayal for Joseph?
2. In what ways do you relate to Joseph?
3. What inspires you about Joseph’s story?
4. Joseph sought both righteousness and compassion in dealing with Mary. Why is this hard to do?
5. What relationships in your life do you need to invite more compassion or righteousness into?

Prayer:

1. Take some time to do some listening prayer and bring to God what you are struggling with. Read both sub points before as helpful prayer prompts. After a minute or two, ask people to share what God was saying to them.
   1. Joseph had a dream that the baby was from God, God reveals himself to his people in our struggles.
   2. Joseph was courageous in staying with Mary. How might God be inviting you into a courageous action?
