Group Discussion – November 19, 2023

Play two truths and a lie. Each person takes a turn stating 3 things as if they were all true (but one is actually false). The group then needs to figure out which one is false.
What oaths/vows have you taken in your life?
In what ways have you seen the idea of ‘truth’ erode in culture?
In what ways have you seen truth or lack thereof effect your relationships?
In many places in the OT God makes covenant or vows with the Israelites (Gen 22 and 2 Sam 7 are a couple). What happened to these covenants/vows? Did God fulfill his side? Did the Israelites? How does this effect how we view saying yes/no now?
Pastor Tim talked about ‘the dance’ we play when we don’t trust people’s words as authentic or true. Have you noticed yourself in any of these ‘dances’? If so, share.
What is an interaction you will have this week where this may be a struggle? What do you want to do differently? How do you need to prepare for that conversation?
