Camera Training

Our camera operators capture live footage of our Sunday worship gatherings that gets compiled by the video switcher for live-streaming.  This training covers the basics of our equipment, settings, and operation.  The training videos build off each other, so be sure to watch them in order.  A camera guidelines sheet is kept at each camera as a reference for the settings and operation covered in this training.

LCD overview

First off is an overview of the LCD display.  This display gives us important information about our settings and helps us ensure that our cameras are set up properly.  This is where we double check our settings.  We will quickly cover what each of these settings do and where they should be set.

Controls overview

Next we take a look at the controls on the side of the camera that allow us to adjust the settings we covered in the first video.  Some of these controls should be left alone, while others may change from week to week.

Tripod overview

Now we cover the tripod functions and adjustments.  These should always be checked prior to the service beginning to ensure that the camera operation will be smooth and that the camera itself is level and in a good position.  Certain adjustments will be based on user preference – just make sure that the tripod is working with you rather than against you.

Framing/composition

Now that we’ve covered the basics of the camera settings and operation, we’ll look at best practices and terms for setting proper framing of shots.

This covers the basics of camera operation!  There’s lots more we could cover, but if you focus on these guidelines and settings the stream will look great for our viewers.  Additional training is offered in-person at workshops and by appointment.  If you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Pastor Eric!  His email is eric@mylivinghope.ca.  Happy filming!
