What is helping you grow these days?

One of the questions I often discuss with people I meet is, “What is helping you grow closer to God these days?”

What is helping you grow closer to God these days?

For me, these days, my answer is the Trinity. Last summer I became captivated by how Father, Son, and Spirit interact and collaborate. Ever since, my recognition, appreciation, and amazement of our Triune God have been catalysts for taking me deeper in my relationship with God. I’ve started to read Scripture through a Trinitarian lens. I’ve been amazed at what it has revealed about God and about what Jesus envisions for us as we seek to live in community, as Father, Son, and Spirit live in community.

This weekend we are continuing our Creed series by exploring a belief implied within the Creed but not explicitly stated. As disciples of Jesus, we believe there is one God eternally existing and collaborating in three persons—Father, Son, and Spirit. We call this belief the doctrine of the Trinity. I think it is one of the most neglected doctrines in the church today; it is crucial for helping us go deeper in our relationship with God today. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we explore why we believe that God is three and one.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Kirk
