What should Christians believe? What do you believe?

This weekend we are wrapping up our Creed series. Over the past 20 weeks we have explored the beliefs that we share or as one author put it, “What Christians ought to believe.”

We have shaped our series around the Apostles’ Creed which says:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

After hearing about and studying the beliefs that the Apostles’ Creed represents, can you say that you fully believe everything in the creed? Do the behaviours and actions of your life reflect your beliefs? Are there beliefs that we’ve talked about that you need to revisit and think through further? (All of our sermons are available online at: https://www.mylivinghope.ca/category/videos/messages/ )

This weekend, as we wrap up our series, we are going to explore why it is important to consider what we believe; we are going to give you an opportunity to profess what you believe. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we discover that right beliefs lead to right actions that reveal our faith.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Kirk

PS…This Sunday our elementary school kids will be joining us for a family worship service. We’ll also be witnessing the baptism of several people. This is a great opportunity for you to talk with your kids about what baptism is and even share your story of being baptized.
